UN to issue stamps with Vietnamese flag and coin

The VND5,000 coin of Vietnam.VietNamNet Bridge – As of May 3, the United National Postal Administration (UNPA) has begun to issue a new stamp set with the national flags and typical coins of 24 member countries, including Vietnam.

The coin of Vietnam that was chosen by the UNPA to issue this year is the one with face value of VND5,000.

Other countries that have the image of their flags and coins printed on the new stamp set of UNPA include Thailand, India, the Republic of Korea, Brazil, France, Spain, Hungary, Ireland and South Africa.

According to UNPA, this new set of stamps has face values of US$0.39, 0.85 Swiss francs, and Eur0.55, based on the standard postal stamp prices in related countries and regions.

This is the second consecutive year UNPA has issued a set of stamps with national flags and coins of the member countries of the United Nations. The issuance of such sets of stamps will continue till a collection of flags and coins of all member countries is made.

NA Chairman inspects Ha Noi’s election preparations

VietNamNet Bridge - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong, who is also President of the country's Elections Council, toured Hanoi on May 5, to inspect preparation work for the upcoming 12 th national legislative elections. Trong praised the capital for its run up work, for being active in compiling the opinions of voters, public awareness campaigns, tightening security and solving petitions on complaints relating to election preparations or its candidates. “As a political, economic and cultural hub of the country, Hanoi will be seen as a mirror for the entire nation to look at. The capital Hanoi therefore must strictly follow election rules and ensure democracy by providing concise information on candidates to allow our voters to make good decisions,” said the legislative chief. Hanoi has 1964 polling booths in place to select 21 vacant NA seats from the list of 37 possible candidates.
